Phlat
Stuff presents cyanotypes by Robin Hill and pounced pigment drawings
by Mary Judge. In addition both artists will produce site specific installations.
Robin Hill will construct a cyanotype
that adheres directly on two adjacent walls and runs from floor to ceiling.
In Hill's piece the image is made by exposing a utilitarian object, a
translucent shopping bag, to varying exposures of light directly on paper.
Mary Judge will make a monochromatic, twenty-one foot wall painting. Judge's
wall painting will explore transformation through repetition of motif
and the use of a symmetrical structural system.
In
both Robin Hill's and Mary Judge's work the image develops out the process
and their work shares a visceral and immediate quality. Hill states that
her "pieces rest in a state of suspended animation, speaking of possibility
and potential rather than articulating a finite resolution." And
Judge in discussing beauty relates, "for me beauty resides not only
in the harmony of proportions but also in the elemental, primal forms
that connect the work of art with both the intellect and senses on a profound
level." |
